ABOUT CARE AFRICA

Safety of our Citizens, Non-Citizens, Tourists, Delegates and International Observers has become a great concern not only to the government, but private sector, investors and the international community. The public is becoming more aware of these incidences of Terrorism, Violent Extremism and the potential for loss of life, destruction of property and physical harm. Law enforcement is entitled with the responsibility to protect life and property, but law enforcement alone cannot do the job. It’s up to each and every one to do their part. Whereas Training and awareness makes Citizens and Non-Citizens alike equipped and will go a long way in not only making our Country, but also Region, safer and more secure environments. change in diversity on the How, Why, and Reasons our youths are getting Radicalised to take up arms and join extremist groups has been proven more than enough times through the numerous unpredictable and dynamic attacks on our home land. From the attack at Gikomba, Assanand Commercial Building, Garissa University, West Gate Shopping Mall, Police Camps and Posts, and Public Service Vehicles.

Kenya has always been a target of Terror Attacks, Active Shootings and Bomb threats, but now it is starting to become a ticking time bound reality, with the fear of negative expectation of an eminent attack anywhere, due to the unpredictable trend of attacks. It is no longer a matter of “IF” But “WHEN”. When it happens, how best prepared are our Citizens, Non-Citizens and Visitors?

The Jubilee government has made tremendous strides in attempt to stop and counter Terrorism and Violent Extremism by proper facilitation of the Anti-Terror Police Unit, introduction of the Nyumba Kumi initiative and also the Counter Violent Extremism {CVE} initiative. However, even with these well planned interim initiatives, the threat of terror attacks and Radicalisation is still constantly growing, Kenya being one of the worst affected countries in East Africa by the same.

Kenya is the second worst terror affected country in East Africa, after Somalia. Research shows that from 2014 – 2017, apart from Somalia, Kenya has been the leading attacked country by the Al-Shabaab terror organization and also the country that has produced the greatest number of radicalised recruits who have joined the terror group. We also harbor the greatest number of Violent, Non-violent, Right wing and Extremist groups in East Africa. Kenya is also the leading country in terms of local terror casualties, killed either on our homeland {majority} or in defense of our boarders by the militant Al-Shabaab.

It’s because of these reasons that Countermeasures Against Radicalisation and Extremism {CARE} Africa took the extra step to ensure that we  play our Civic role; and after a 3year {36 months} evidence based research, data analysis, study and compilation of Radicalisation based information in partnership with Safety and Drugs Countermeasures, Security and Surveillance Africa, Law enforcement, Religious leaders, UK Security Intelligence agencies, Security and Counter Terrorism and Extremism Experts to come up with CARE AFRICA Counter Violent Extremism {CVE}Program.

We have studied, analyzed and mastered radicalisation, extremism and its diverse patterns; and come up with the first ever communal-national Counter Violent Extremism {CVE} program in Africa. We have created blueprints of their structures and merged them into one comprehensive framework that can be implemented by the public and policymakers.

We are a community based organization with the key objective of helping the public, citizens and non-citizens alike spot, counter and stop radicalisation in its early stages before an individual becomes a {violent, non-violent, islamist, right wing, left wing} extremist.
